- Hi,
-
- I'm testing out StarNet's MicroX X Windows Server for PC's. It can use
- Windows Sockets to talk to the network. While perusing Mosaic, I came
- across an option to play a sound (.au) file. Does anyone know if there is
- a way to have these sounds come over my PC?
-
- Many thanks,
-
- David

- File Name: xwindemo.exe or xwin287b.exe
-
- Comments: The xwindemo.exe is a self-extracting file with
- recursive subdirectories. It is a fully functional
- PC X server that runs under MS Windows 3.1.

- *** Only one copy of the software may be run on a subnet at a time. ***

-
- Wild guess: you've got header compression at your server but not in Trumpet
- Winsock,or vice-versa. Or you've got a non-error-correcting modem and a lousy
- line.
-
- But those are just wild guesses. Does everything else work correctly?

- I found the files winsock.lzh and winsockc.zip at
-
- src.doc.ic.ac.uk:computing/systems/ibmpc/windows3/programmr
-
- (check that)
-
- The winsock.lzh is the v1.0 specification. You could probably get the 1.1
- (1993) specification from ftp.microsoft.com, but i'm not sure where.
- The zip file includes the 1.1 specification, but in help file format.
-
- Also, this month's .EXE has a short article on windows sockets.
-
- Hope this helps
